Crashes every time on my 1st generation iPad

Id love to rave about this game, but I cant even get past the second splash page on my 1st generation iPad. It claims to support iPad. Youd expect them to say that it fails miserably o n one of them. Anybody else having this problem? Its a shame to spend the $$$ and not get to even see the game.
